Common questions about this trip

  • Sydney vs Byron Bay for whale watching?

Both work May-Nov. Sydney's easier if you're based there — Darling Harbour boat ride. Byron is the migration superhighway so sightings are arguably more consistent. Either way the whale guarantee covers you.
  • Whale guarantee — how does it work?

If no whales spotted during your trip, you get another trip with them free of charge. No paperwork drama — just rebook when you're available. Confidence is genuinely backed by the migration corridor data.
  • When's the best month to go?

Peak humpback action is June through October. The whales head north in winter (Jun-Jul), then back south with their calves (Sep-Oct) — the calf-mum sightings are the most photogenic. May is the start of season, Nov is the tail end.
  • Will I get seasick?

Maybe — depends on swell. Take a ginger tablet or wear a seasickness band an hour BEFORE departure (the boat doesn't sell meds). Eat a light brekkie, stay topside in the fresh air, focus on the horizon.
  • Can I bring snacks + drinks?

Yes — they don't sell food on board, so BYO snacks and water is encouraged. No alcohol (it's a morning cruise). Toilet onboard, which is rare for small whale boats.
  • Refund policy if I have to cancel?

Cancellations need 48+ hours notice for a full refund. Inside 48 hours = non-refundable. Travel insurance covers genuine emergencies.
