Common questions about this trip

  • How scared should I be?

Less than you think. The 5-second 'oh no' at the door turns into 60 seconds of euphoria the moment you're in freefall. Your instructor's strapped to your back doing 100% of the technical bits — you just enjoy the ride. 95% of first-time jumpers want to go again immediately.
  • What's the weight limit?

Up to 94kg standard — no surcharge. 95-104.9kg: $50 surcharge. 105kg+: $75 surcharge + on-site assessment. 110kg+: assessment required, may not be cleared. Honest reason — it's a parachute thing, not a fitness thing.
  • Photos or no photos?

Honestly? Pay for the photos. $150-200 on top of $419 feels steep, but you'll regret not having them. Most operators offer a 'jumping selfie cam' (cheaper) or instructor-cam package (more expensive, better angles).
  • What if it's cancelled for weather?

Free reschedule to the next available date. If you can't reschedule (flying home, etc.), full refund. Wind and cloud cover are the usual culprits — Byron's weather is generally good but not guaranteed.
  • Can I jump if I'm hungover?

Skydive Australia won't let you jump if they smell alcohol on you. Genuinely. Don't make a $419 mistake — get an early night the night before.
