• Starter vs Adventure Pack — which?

  Starter Pack = accommodation included, more relaxed pace, includes the Reef. Adventure Pack = NO accommodation, harder activities (Tully rafting), no Reef. Pick Starter if you want the full Cairns experience including stay; pick Adventure if you've got accommodation sorted and want adrenaline.

• Do I need to bring my own snorkel gear for the GBR?

  No — every reef operator supplies snorkel, mask, fins and stinger suit. Just bring swimmers, reef-safe sunscreen, towel and a refillable water bottle. Anything you forget can be hired on the boat for $5-15.

• Dangerous wildlife in Far North Queensland — should I worry?

  Less than you think. Crocs (only in posted waterways — never swim there), stingers (lycra suits sort it Nov-May), snakes (leave you alone). Australia's a victim of its own marketing here — incidents are vanishingly rare. Listen to your guides + use the swim flags.

• Daily costs in Cairns on top of this package?

  Budget $50-80/day for food, drinks and extras. Hostel dorm beds outside the pack run $15-30/night. Dinner for two at a decent place: $35-45. Cheap eats at the Lagoon food trucks: $12-15. Beers at Gilligan's: $9-12.

  100% yes. Cairns is humid, hot year-round, and reef boats/rainforest tours run for hours. Plus — saves single-use plastic from polluting the actual reef you came to see. Hostels have filtered water fillers.
