Common questions about this trip

  • Spot X vs the Byron Bay surf camp — which?

Spot X if you want full surf-camp immersion (3 meals + camp life + multi-day lessons). Byron Bay camp if you want surf lessons + Byron's town vibe + freedom in the evenings. Spot X has gentler waves and better camp facilities; Byron has Byron.
  • How do I get there?

Arrawarra is ~530km south of Byron Bay, ~5-6 hrs on the bus, OR ~5 hrs north of Sydney. Easiest: Greyhound stops literally at the camp's bus stop — they shuttle you the last 5 min.
  • Is it just for solo travellers?

Mostly. Friend duos and small groups are common but the camp's set up for solos to meet people. Eating together, lessons together, campfire together = guaranteed mates by night 2.
  • What if it's flat?

Camp's been at Arrawarra 20+ years because the breaks are reliable. Flat days are rare, and when they happen the camp runs alternative activities (kayaking, hiking, beach games). Lessons resume the moment swell returns.
