Common questions about this trip

  • Which of the three boats — Condor, Broomstick or Hammer?

All three are basically interchangeable — same fleet, same crew, same itinerary, same vibe. Operator picks based on departure availability. Don't stress the choice.
  • Where's the meeting point + when?

1:30pm at Coral Sea Marina, Airlie Beach — southern end, Meeting Point C, under the white umbrellas. The crew will reconfirm with you 48 hours before by email. Don't be late, the boat leaves 2pm sharp.
  • BYO alcohol limit — is it enforced?

Yes. 20 beers OR 25 standard drinks per person, no glass, no red wine. Crew check at boarding. Bottle shop at the marina if you forgot. Filtered water + tea + coffee are stocked.
  • Dietary needs — vegan, GF, lactose?

Sorted — no extra charge for vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free or gluten-free. Just flag it when you book. Desserts are slightly limited for GF + dairy-free, but mains are no issue.
  • What can I bring on board?

Soft bag only — no hard suitcases. Pack swimmers, towel, sunscreen, sunnies, hat, light jacket (cool at night), runners or sandals, toiletries, meds. Leave your big bag at your Airlie hostel ($5-10/day storage).
  • I'm a weak swimmer — can I still snorkel?

Yes. Flotation devices on board if you need extra buoyancy. Crew run a brief risk assessment before each swim, the tender boat stays close, and someone's always on lookout. Plenty of weak swimmers love it.
  • Group size — how many people on board?

Minimum 10, maximum 25 per sailing. So you're never alone but it's not chaos either. Most trips run 18-22.
