Overview

The Great Ocean Road is the drive, the one on the postcards, National Heritage listed and twisting along the coast for most of the way. This is the long-day version from Melbourne, 13 hours, which is what it takes to do the road, the rainforest and the Apostles without rushing any of them.

Photo stop at the Memorial Arch and the Great Ocean Road sign, then morning tea with the wildlife: kangaroos, emus and, with luck, a koala. A guided walk through ancient rainforest in Great Otway National Park (easy fitness level) breaks up the driving before the shipwreck coast of Port Campbell National Park, Loch Ard Gorge's cliff-walled beaches, and the Twelve Apostles lookout timed for the afternoon sun.

You travel in a modern air-conditioned medium coach with onboard Wi-Fi, an experienced driver guide giving full local commentary, and an audio and text translation app in ten languages. National Park fees are in; lunch and dinner are bought along the way at local stops. Pick-ups from selected Melbourne inner-city points.
