What a Japan group tour costs in 2026: 13 and 17 days from Tokyo, or 22 days with South Korea, and what each price covers.

The Wanderlust crew · Updated · 4 min read

Short answer: a Japan group tour costs from $4,299 for 13 days (Tokyo to Kyoto) and from $5,489 for 17 days (Tokyo to Osaka, adding Hiroshima and Miyajima). Add South Korea and it is from $7,599 for 22 days starting in Seoul. Each price covers accommodation, including ryokan nights with onsen and a Buddhist temple stay, a set number of meals, transport, a group leader from airport pickup and every listed activity. Flights, travel insurance and visas are extra.

Prices are per person in AUD, from our current listings (October 2026), and can change. These tours are priced by departure date, so the price depends on your start date and the season. The “from” price is the lowest-priced departure we can book right now, and each tour page shows the price for every date.

What the 13-day price buys

The Japan Adventure, 13 Days Tokyo to Kyoto from $4,299 covers 12 nights, 16 meals and all transport including the bullet train. The stays are a mix of traditional and hostel:

  • Two nights in a Nagano ryokan with onsen, quad share on futons over tatami.
  • One night in a ryokan inside a temple in Koyasan, quad share with onsen.
  • One night in a Hakone hostel, quad share with ensuite.
  • Three nights in a Kyoto hostel in private twin or double rooms with ensuite.

The included activities: a Tokyo city tour and a karaoke night, a sushi-making class, rolling your own soba noodles, an origami session, a Lake Ashi cruise, Mount Fuji cable car views, Osaka Castle, the temple overnight with meditation, a night cemetery walk and a morning prayer and fire ceremony, a night tour of Kyoto’s geisha district, the Arashiyama bamboo forest, Kinkakuji, Fushimi Inari and a samurai experience.

Four of those nights are in quad-share rooms. If you want a private room every night, check the tour page before you book.

What the 17-day adds

The Japan Adventure, 17 Days Tokyo to Osaka from $5,489 runs the same route with four more nights, four more meals and a fourth night in Kyoto, then adds a tea ceremony, the Hiroshima Peace Museum and Atomic Dome, and Miyajima Island before finishing in Osaka. On current from-prices, the 13-day ($4,299) is cheaper than the 17-day ($5,489).

Japan with South Korea

The South Korea + Japan Adventure, 22 Days from $7,599 starts in Seoul and covers 21 nights and 27 meals. The Korean leg includes a Seoul city tour, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon hanok village, a DMZ tour, Gwangjang markets, a cooking class, a taekwondo class, a K-pop dance class, the Busan coastal monorail and a Gyeongju bicycle tour, with a night in a traditional hanok hotel and a night in a Buddhist temple. The Japan leg then runs the 13-day highlights: the Nagano ryokan, the Koyasan temple stay, Tokyo, Mount Fuji views, Kyoto and a samurai experience.

What’s included and what’s extra

Included: accommodation for every night, the listed meals (16, 20 or 27), transport between stops (the bullet train is listed on both Japan-only tours), a group leader from airport pickup, and every activity on the itinerary with no pay-on-arrival extras.

Extra: flights to Japan or Korea, travel insurance (listed as compulsory), visas, and your own spending. Any meal not on the list is yours to buy, so the more meals a tour includes, the less you spend on the ground.
