Blue Mountains tours from Sydney are the easiest big-nature day you can do from the city: World Heritage bushland, sandstone cliffs dropping into the Jamison Valley, waterfalls, and the Three Sisters standing guard over the lot at Echo Point. Most tours collect you in the city in the morning and have you back by early evening.

Katoomba is around two hours west of Sydney by road, so plan on 10 to 11 hours door to door. The core stops repeat across most tours: Echo Point for the Three Sisters and the Jamison Valley, a village stop in Katoomba or Leura for lunch, and some mix of lookouts, bushwalks and Scenic World rides (the Railway, Skyway, Cableway and Walkway).
The scenery does the heavy lifting on every tour, so the real differences are group size, how much you walk, and what is already in the price.
Blue Mountains Day Tour with Return Harbour Cruise from $99 is the pick-your-own-extras day: a deluxe mini tour bus with accredited guides and scheduled city pickups, with Scenic World rides, Sydney Zoo and lunch sold as add-ons rather than baked in. The 45-minute Sydney Harbour cruise home is included. Best if you'd rather choose your own add-ons.
Blue Mountains Waterfalls Walk & Picnic Lunch Day Trip from $119 is the one for walkers: a minibus, a 90-minute to two-hour bushwalk past waterfalls, lookouts and clifftops to the base of a waterfall, the Three Sisters with the Dreamtime story, and a fresh cafe-made picnic lunch. No animal captivity stops, no hidden extras, and it is 14+.
Blue Mountains Nature & Wildlife Small-Group Tour from $199 caps the group at nine. Expect secluded lookouts, guided bushwalks of 10 to 45 minutes, the Three Sisters at Echo Point, a choose-your-own lunch in a mountain village, then Featherdale entry to meet the kangaroos and koalas. City pickup included.
Blue Mountains “3 Rides, No Lunch” Day Tour from $209 does exactly what it says: Featherdale first (you can hand-feed the roos), Echo Point, all three Scenic World rides (Cableway, Skyway, Railway), a Leura Village wander and an optional one-hour river cruise back. Hotel pickup included.
All Inclusive Small Group Blue Mountains Tour from $279 is the no-wallet day: 12 to 20 passengers, Featherdale or Sydney Zoo entry, all four Scenic World rides, a chef-prepared lunch, a short guided walk to a lookout the coaches cannot reach, and a river cruise back to Circular Quay.
Cheapest of the five right now: the Day Tour with Return Harbour Cruise at $99.
The mountains work year-round. Winter (June to August) brings crisp, clear days and cold lookouts, so pack a proper jacket. Summer is milder than Sydney but the sun is strong on the clifftops, and mist can roll through and hide the view for a while.
Bring closed walking shoes, layers, water and sunscreen. Stay behind the barriers at lookouts and on marked tracks: these are real cliffs. Be honest about your fitness for the longer bushwalks, and flag dietary needs or mobility limits when you book.
Katoomba is roughly two hours west of the city by road. Every tour here runs about 10 to 11 hours from pickup to drop-off.
The Waterfalls Walk, Nature & Wildlife, 3 Rides and All Inclusive tours all stop at Echo Point for the Three Sisters. The $99 harbour cruise tour covers lookouts and walking tracks, with Scenic World as an add-on.
If you want quieter lookouts and real walking, yes. The Nature & Wildlife tour from $199 takes a maximum of nine, and the All Inclusive tour from $279 runs 12 to 20. The $99 and $119 options suit you better if the scenery itself is the point.
Yes, through Featherdale Wildlife Park. It is included on the Nature & Wildlife tour, the 3 Rides tour and the All Inclusive tour, which offers Sydney Zoo as the alternative.
