Is Wanderlust legit?

Is Wanderlust Travel legit? Here's how to check.

Short answer: Yes. Wanderlust Travel and Adventure Pty Ltd is a registered Australian company (ABN 34 636 612 523, active on the government's ABN register), based in Byron Bay, NSW. We are a booking agent: we sell 511 tours, activities and passes run by 218 independent operators, and the operator runs your trip. On instant-book tours your card is only charged once the operator has confirmed your seat, and you get the operator's ticket by email. We are not ATAS-accredited and we don't publish a review score of our own yet, so check the tour's price against the operator's own site and pay by card.

Questions people ask

Is Wanderlust Travel a real company?

Yes. Wanderlust Travel and Adventure Pty Ltd (ABN 34 636 612 523, ACN 636 612 523) is registered in Australia and based in Byron Bay, NSW. You can check the ABN yourself on the Australian Business Register.

Who actually runs the tour?

The operator named on the tour page and at checkout. We are the booking agent: we sell the seat, book it with the operator and send you their ticket. The guiding, vehicles and boats are the operator's. Our own Travel Mates trips are the exception: we put those together and book each part for you.

When is my card charged?

On instant-book tours we place a hold on your card, book your seat with the operator, and only charge the card once the operator confirms. If they can't take your date, the hold is released and you pay nothing. Some dates need the operator to confirm by hand; if we can't confirm one, we refund you in full.

Is Wanderlust ATAS-accredited?

No, not at the moment. ATAS is the travel industry's accreditation scheme for agents, and it does not run a compensation fund. If you want cover in case a travel company fails, buy travel insurance that covers supplier failure when you book. Paying by card also gives you your bank's chargeback process if something you paid for isn't provided.

Are the star ratings on the site reviews of Wanderlust?

No. The ratings on tour pages are the operator's own (for example from Google or TripAdvisor), and each one says where it comes from and how many reviews it's based on. Reviews of Wanderlust itself go on Trustpilot: since October 2026 every traveller gets the same request after their trip. We'll show our own score once enough reviews are in.

Is it cheaper to book direct with the operator?

Check it: there's no booking fee with us, and our price guides show the RRP next to ours wherever we know it. If you find the exact same tour cheaper on another Australian booking site, send us the link and we'll do our best to beat it.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Cancellations follow the operator's own terms, which differ by tour and are shown on the tour page and at checkout before you pay. Whatever the operator refunds us, we refund to your card.
