Free trip planning, questions answered
Short answer: Wanderlust Travel & Adventure plans East Coast Australia trips for free. Tell us your route, dates and must-dos and we send back a custom itinerary, by bus pass or campervan, with every bed and the big tours (K'gari, the Whitsundays, the reef), priced as one all-in amount in Australian dollars. There are no planning or booking fees, you book it all in one checkout, and you don't pay for anything we can't confirm.
Is the trip planning really free?
Yes. There is no planning fee, no booking fee and no fee from us when you change the plan. You only pay for the trip itself, and only once you decide to book it.
How does the free trip planner work?
Answer a few questions in the builder (route, dates, who's travelling, how you want to get around, your must-dos and budget), which takes about two minutes. We usually reply within a few hours with a custom day-by-day itinerary and one all-in price by email, then talk it through on WhatsApp or a call if you like.
What does the plan include?
Transport (a hop-on hop-off bus pass or a campervan), every bed (big or small dorms, female-only dorms or private rooms in well-rated social hostels) and the big-ticket days such as a K'gari 4WD tour, a Whitsundays sailing trip, the Great Barrier Reef, surf lessons or a skydive. It comes as one all-in price in Australian dollars. Flights are not included.
Can you plan a campervan road trip?
Yes. Pick Campervan as your transport and we compare vans for your dates across the rental companies we book, then add the tours worth doing along the way, like K'gari, a Whitsundays sail and the reef. The van goes into your one all-in price, and the plan shows the other vans you could pick instead. One-way trips such as Sydney to Cairns or Brisbane to Melbourne are fine.
Which places can you plan?
The whole East Coast of Australia, from Melbourne or Sydney up to Cairns: the Great Ocean Road, the Blue Mountains, Byron Bay, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Noosa, Rainbow Beach and K'gari, Agnes Water, the Whitsundays, Magnetic Island, Mission Beach, Port Douglas and the Daintree. We also plan Fiji (/fiji-trip-planner) and Sri Lanka (/sri-lanka-trip-planner).
Is it only for 18 to 30s?
No. We plan custom trips for any age, including people in their 30s and 40s, couples, groups of friends and families: your own route and pace, private rooms on request and quieter boats if that suits you better.
Can you plan a trip for a woman travelling solo?
Yes, solo female trips are our speciality: female-only dorms or private rooms in well-rated hostels, every bed booked before you arrive, and guided group days for K'gari, the Whitsundays and the reef. More at /solo-female-travel-australia.
Do I pay before the trip is confirmed?
You don't pay for anything we can't confirm. Trips marked on request are confirmed with the operator within 24 hours at most, and if a date can't be confirmed, that payment is returned.
Can I change the plan?
Change it as many times as you like before you book. Once it's booked, changes follow each operator's terms and we add no fees of our own.
How is this different from an AI itinerary app?
Every tour, bed and van in your plan is a real product we can book today at a live price, so the total is what you actually pay. A real person sends the plan, books it all in one checkout, and stays on WhatsApp for the whole trip.
