Overview

Stockton Beach is backed by Australia's largest moving sand dune system. You get over two hours of free time there to walk the dunes or relax on the beach, with the option to add a 4WD safari and sandboard run (from $40 per person) or a camel ride (from $50 per person), both paid to the operator on the day.

After the beach, a guided walk takes you up Mount Tomaree, about 1.2 kilometres each way on a clear track, to a lookout over Port Stephens, Stockton Beach and out to sea. Moderate fitness is recommended.

Return coach or minibus transport leaves from Central Station, with a morning coffee stop and an afternoon snack stop on the way back. Lunch is not included; you can bring your own or buy near the beach.
