Overview

The hardest part of a big trip is the first week: new city, no mates, jet lag and a to-do list. This fixes all of it. You're picked up from the airport, checked into a central hostel with your group, and by the end of night one you've had dinner and rooftop drinks with the people you'll explore Sydney with.

The days cover the city properly: a guided walk through The Rocks to the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, an Aboriginal cultural tour, the Coogee to Bondi coastal walk with a dessert stop at Bondi, and the Manly ferry across the harbour for Shelly Beach and the Wormhole. Day three is yours: add the Blue Mountains or explore on your own with your guide's list.

On a Working Holiday visa? A free starter pack and an optional one-on-one meeting cover jobs and getting set up, plus a job board, weekly jobs email and mail holding. Groups are up to 22, ages 18 to 39.

Itinerary at a glance

1 Day 1 · Welcome to Sydney

Your airport pick-up is included on any day before the tour, so land early if you like. Tonight you meet your guide and your group over a welcome dinner, then head up for rooftop drinks with the city lit up below.

Accommodation
Central Sydney hostel dorm
Meals Included
Dinner
2 Day 2 · The Rocks, the Opera House and an Aboriginal cultural tour

A guided morning through The Rocks, two centuries of history on cobblestones, then the Opera House and Harbour Bridge up close. In the afternoon an Aboriginal cultural tour tells the story of the world's oldest continuing culture on the land the city stands on. Dinner is at Spice Alley, the laneway food hall locals keep quiet about.

Meals Included
Dinner
3 Day 3 · Your day: Blue Mountains or Sydney your way

Add a guided day trip to the Blue Mountains, 90 minutes away, for the cliffs, rainforest and the Three Sisters (an optional extra), or take your guide's list of places beyond the itinerary and explore Sydney with or without the group. On a Working Holiday visa? This is the day for the free starter pack and a one-on-one with the team on jobs and getting set up in Australia.

4 Day 4 · Coogee to Bondi on foot

One of the great coastal walks: six beaches, cliff-top views and the Pacific all the way. The group starts at Coogee, walks the trail to Bondi with a sweet stop at Bondi's cult dessert bar on the way, and finishes at Dudley Page Reserve, which has the best view back over the city, before dinner.

Meals Included
Dinner, Bondi dessert stop
5 Day 5 · Ferry to Manly

Thirty minutes on the Manly ferry with the Opera House sliding past and the Harbour Bridge behind you: the best-value harbour cruise in Sydney, and it's included. In Manly the first stop is a much-loved bakery, then you walk out to Shelly Beach, find the Manly Wormhole and finish with your feet in the sand.

Meals Included
Dinner, Manly bakery stop
