Akaroa sits inside an extinct volcano on Banks Peninsula, and this ride takes you around its crater. A local guide leads the way to the top of the crater rim, with uninterrupted views over the harbour and the Pacific.

You ride a pedal-assist Scott mountain bike, so the climbs are hard work rather than impossible, and you choose the pace. Helmet, gloves, a hi-vis vest, a riding backpack and a phone holster are all supplied.

It runs for about 2.5 hours from Rue Lavaud in Akaroa, starting at 11:45am, and needs basic to moderate fitness. You'll be asked for your height at booking so they can size your bike.
