Overview

Auckland sits on a volcanic field of around 55 volcanoes, and their cones, lakes and lagoons are best seen from above. This 20-minute flight takes off from the heliport in Albany and heads for the Harbour Bridge, past the old Chelsea Sugar Works and on towards Auckland Zoo.

You look down on Eden Park and the extinct cones of Mt Eden and Mt Albert, then Cornwall Park, Auckland Museum and the Sky Tower. Leaving the city behind, the Hauraki Gulf opens up, with Devonport, Mt Victoria, North Head and Takapuna below, before you fly out over the crater of Rangitoto, Auckland's largest volcano, which last erupted about 550 years ago.

Flights need at least two passengers and are weather dependent; if the weather is unsuitable, your flight is rescheduled at no extra cost. Passenger weights are needed at booking: the average must be 90kg or less, and passengers over 100kg may need an extra comfort seat.
