Overview

Two weeks is enough to do the South Island properly, and this loop starts and finishes in Christchurch. A local driver guide takes a maximum of 18 guests in a custom-outfitted Mercedes Sprinter with panoramic windows, with free onboard WiFi.

The route hits Tekapo, home of the world's largest Dark Sky Reserve, and the Church of the Good Shepherd, then three nights in Queenstown with transport to Milford Sound (cruise optional). Further along are the rugged West Coast township of Franz Josef, Punakaiki's Pancake Rocks and blowhole walk, the Cape Foulwind and Ohau Point seal colonies, the Castle Rock Walk, Abel Tasman National Park, a Golden Bay day trip and Marlborough wine tasting, then the Kaikōura coastline, famed for its marine wildlife.

Included are 13 nights in flash pack dorm accommodation and breakfast daily. Late bookings within 14 days of departure depend on availability.
