Overview

Seven days through Fiji's Yasawa Islands, the postcard chain of white sand, glass-clear lagoons and reef straight off the beach, running north of the Mamanucas off Fiji's west coast. One booking sorts your hop-on-hop-off Yasawa Pass ferry, your island beds, a night in Nadi at each end and your airport transfers, so all you do is show up. The ferry is a high-speed catamaran that leaves Port Denarau every morning at 8.45am, runs the length of the chain with resort boats meeting it offshore to carry guests in, and is back at Denarau at 5.45pm; your pass covers every ferry leg between your islands. Snorkel with manta rays in season, dive or laze, learn to say 'bula' properly and fall into Fiji time.

Pick any start date: the ferry runs daily, and a real-human concierge books the pass, the island beds and the transfers in sequence. The Yasawa resorts are famously backpacker-social, with shared dinners and kava sessions most nights, so your crew turns up on the islands. Start and finish in Nadi; the islands do the rest.

Itinerary at a glance

Nadi Day 1 · 6–7 Manta Ray Island Days 2–3 Kuata Day 4 South Sea Island Day 5
Your route, day by day
1 Day 1 · Nadi, land and unwind (day 1)

Touch down in Nadi, met and transferred to your first night near the mainland. Grab your Bula Pass and itinerary pack, shake off the flight by the pool, and meet the crew who'll be island-hopping the same week. Fiji time starts now.

2 Day 2 · Ferry to Manta Ray island (day 2)

Check in at the Port Denarau ferry terminal for the 8.45am departure and cruise north past the Mamanucas into the Yasawa chain. A resort boat meets the catamaran offshore and runs you in to the beach for two nights in manta country. Snorkel straight off the sand and watch the sun drop over the Pacific.

3 Day 3 · Manta Ray island (day 3)

Your second night in manta country. In season (roughly May–October) mantas feed in the channel and you can swim alongside them; otherwise snorkel the reef, kayak or claim a hammock.

4 Day 4 · Kuata (day 4)

Ferry south to Kuata, the gateway island: snorkel the reef, hike the summit trail for sunset and join the kava circle after dinner.

5 Day 5 · South Sea Island (day 5)

Last island night in the Mamanucas on a sand cay you can walk around in five minutes. Paddleboard, snorkel off the beach and watch the sun drop.

6 Day 6 · Back to Nadi (day 6)

The catamaran brings you into Port Denarau at 5.45pm and you're transferred to your Nadi bed for the night. Dinner on the mainland, last swim in the pool.

7 Day 7 · Farewell (day 7)

Transfer to Nadi International Airport for your flight home, or tack on extra island nights; ask the concierge. Vinaka, Fiji.

Common questions about this trip

  • What's a Yasawa Pass?

It's a hop-on-hop-off ferry pass for the Yasawa Islands with your island beds included: the catamaran runs the chain daily and drops you at each island on the route. We add a Nadi night and airport transfers at each end so the whole week is one booking.
  • Can I choose which islands / resorts?

Yes. This is a curated starting package; tell the concierge your vibe (party vs quiet, dorm vs private, dive-focused) and we'll set the islands and resorts to match before you pay.
  • Which days can I start?

Any day of the week: the ferry runs daily. Pick your arrival date in Nadi at checkout and we book everything around it.
  • Is it good for solo travellers?

Very. The Yasawa resorts are backpacker-social and you island-hop with the same faces, so you'll have mates by the first island.
  • When can I swim with manta rays?

Manta season in the Yasawas runs roughly May to October, when they feed in the channels. It's weather- and season-dependent, so we can't guarantee sightings, but the manta snorkel is a popular add-on in season.
  • How do you confirm the booking?

Your payment secures today's price; our concierge then confirms each component (ferry pass, resort nights, transfers) and comes back within 48 hours. If we can't confirm your dates, you don't pay for it. Once confirmed, cancellations follow each supplier's terms, shown before you pay.
  • How does the ferry work?

One high-speed catamaran runs the Yasawa route every day: it leaves Port Denarau at 8.45am, works its way up the chain with small resort boats meeting it offshore to ferry guests in, turns around at the top and is back at Denarau at 5.45pm. Your pass covers every leg between your islands. Tell the resort desk the day before you want to move and they'll book your seat.
  • Is there a fuel surcharge?

Yes. The ferry operator sets a fuel surcharge each month, currently FJ$20 per person, and it's paid locally before you board rather than included in this price. Budget for it in Fijian dollars.
  • Do I have to buy a meal plan on the islands?

On most Yasawa islands, yes: the resorts are the only place to eat, so they run compulsory meal plans covering lunch and dinner, paid on arrival. Breakfast is included with your beds in most resorts. It's why lunches and dinners aren't in this price, and why you should carry a card plus some Fijian cash, since island ATMs are rare.
  • How do I get from Nadi Airport to the ferry?

Your return airport transfers are included: you're met at Nadi International Airport and taken to your first night's accommodation, then to Port Denarau in time for the 8.45am ferry on day two. Port Denarau is about 20 minutes' drive from the airport.
  • What should I pack for the Yasawas?

Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, swimmers, a rash vest, reef shoes, a dry bag, a head torch, any medication, Fijian cash for the fuel surcharge and village visits, a sarong for village etiquette (shoulders and knees covered) and a soft bag rather than a suitcase. Snorkel gear is available at most resorts, but your own mask fits better.
  • What's the cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms for this trip are set by the operator and confirmed on your booking voucher. Refunds mirror the operator's policy, if they can refund, so can we. Wanderlust handles the refund for you, refunds mirror the operator's terms 1:1 (including if the operator cancels) and we chase it on your behalf. Message us for the exact day-by-day terms before you book.
