Overview

Oarsman's Bay Lodge is on Nacula Island in the Blue Lagoon region, on a bay that's one of the most photographed spots in the Yasawas. It's an adults-only lodge (18 and over) with close ties to nearby Nacula Village, and the pace is beach, hammock, volleyball with the staff, repeat.

Snorkelling, paddleboarding, kayaking, volleyball and weaving are free. Paid trips include the caves, island escapes and village tours. The lodge is cashless, so bring a card for anything on the island.

The lodge takes a minimum of three nights, so that's what this stay is. Beds start with an 8-bed air-conditioned dorm, then one- and two-bedroom lodge rooms (fan), and climb through beachfront studios, beach view bures, north beach bures and beachfront bures to the deluxe beachfront villa. The catamaran arrives around 1.15pm and collects you at the same time on day four. Return ferry and Nadi hotel coach are included; meals are paid at the lodge.

Itinerary at a glance

1 Day 1 · Port Denarau to Oarsman's Bay

Hotel coach to Port Denarau, check in at the terminal at least 30 minutes before the 8.45am catamaran, then north through the islands. It's the run to the top of the chain, arriving on Nacula around 1.15pm. Late lunch, then the bay: snorkel, paddle or claim a hammock.

2 Days 2 to 3 · Oarsman's Bay

Two full days on the bay. Snorkel, paddleboard and kayak for free, join the volleyball with the staff or book a caves trip, an island escape or a village tour with the lodge.

4 Day 4 · Oarsman's Bay to Port Denarau

Morning swim and a last look at the bay before the boat. The southbound boat collects you around 1.15pm. The catamaran is back at Port Denarau around 6pm, and the coach drops you at your hotel.

    Yes, three nights. That's the lodge's own minimum, so this stay is three nights: you arrive on day one and take the boat back on day four.

  • Can I stay longer?
    Yes. Ask us before you book and we'll add nights at the lodge's nightly rate for your room.

  • Can I pay in cash?
    No. The lodge is cashless, so bring a credit or debit card for meals, drinks and activities.

  • Is there a fuel surcharge?
    Yes. The ferry operator sets it monthly, currently FJ$20 per person, and it's paid locally before you board rather than included in this price. Budget for it in Fijian dollars.

  • How is the booking confirmed?
    Island beds are confirmed on request with the lodge, and we come back to you within 48 hours. If your dates can't be confirmed, you don't pay for them.

  • What's the cancellation policy?
    For Welcome and Departure Packs, there is no fee 31 or more days out, 50% from 15 to 30 days, and full charge at 14 days or less. For packages and island stays, the deposit is non-refundable 81 or more days out, the higher of 10% or the deposit applies from 46 to 80 days, and 100% applies at 45 days or less. Date changes up to 80 days out have no amendment fee. The operator can cancel vessel departures or vary itineraries for adverse conditions. Wanderlust handles the refund for you, refunds mirror the operator's terms 1:1 (including if the operator cancels) and we chase it on your behalf.
