Overview

This day is built around the scenery, wildlife and geology of Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, a drive through time on the operator's own description. A guide drives you out of Rawnsley Park Station in a 4WD, past the views over Wilpena Pound and Bunyeroo Valley, and down into Bunyeroo Gorge for morning tea.

From there it's on into Brachina Gorge, winding through the rock formations with an eye out for the yellow-footed rock wallabies that live on the ledges. Lunch is at the Blinman Hotel, then you head underground for a 60-minute guided tour of the historic Blinman copper mine.

After a coffee stop, the drive home goes via Wadna, an Aboriginal culture and art shop, with a look at the rock wall locals call the Great Wall of China on the way. The route can change at short notice with weather and road conditions. Closed-toe shoes are a must for the mine.
