Overview

A gentler way to see Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield: this tour travels at a relaxed pace, suits people who don't want strenuous walks, and stays in permanent powered tents with twin-share beds (shared facilities) instead of swags. The group runs from 5 to 16 people with an expert guide in an all-terrain vehicle.

Day one leaves Darwin at 6.30am for a one-hour Corroboree Billabong cruise on the Mary River wetlands, a stretch with a very high concentration of saltwater crocodiles and lots of birdlife, then Cahills Crossing and Ubirr rock art. Day two swims at Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) and Moline Rockhole and visits Bukbukluk Lookout before heading to Nitmiluk National Park. Day three is a two-hour Katherine Gorge cruise (or a gorge walk) and a swim at Edith Falls. Day four covers Litchfield's termite mounds, Buley Rockholes, Florence Falls and Wangi Falls, which the operator describes as croc-free, back in Darwin about 4pm in time for Mindil Beach Markets.

If a Litchfield attraction is closed, the operator substitutes activities.

"Amazing experience! The weather was extremely hot but the tour was adapted so it didn’t affect us too much. Our guide … was very professional and knowledgeable on the whole tour. Showing us the indigenous culture in a very respectful way. Overall a really good trip!"
