This is the North Island in a week, driven by a local guide in a custom-outfitted Mercedes Sprinter with panoramic windows and free onboard WiFi. It starts and finishes in Auckland, and the group is capped at 18 guests so nobody is a number on a coach manifest.
The route is movie magic, glowworm caves, Māori culture and the world-famous Tongariro Crossing. Hot Water Beach lets you dig your own hot pool (tide dependent). Wai-O-Tapu Geothermal Wonderland entry is included, as is the Huka Falls walking loop, and you travel the thermal highway between Rotorua and Taupō. Waitomo is on the route, with activities optional.
Expect in-depth commentary throughout, 6 nights in flash pack dorm accommodation, and breakfast daily. Bookings made within 14 days of departure depend on availability, so the group may not always share the same rooms.
