The Sheepdog is a one-way trip down the length of New Zealand, from Auckland to Christchurch over 17 days. It winds down the North Island first, then cruises the West Coast of the South Island before cutting back across to Christchurch.
The overnight stops are Auckland, Hot Water Beach, Waitomo, Rotorua, Taupo, Wellington, Kaiteriteri, Westport, Mahinapua, Franz Josef, Queenstown, Lake Tekapo and Christchurch. Taupo and Franz Josef both have a free day, and Mahinapua is a seasonal stop. A single Cook Strait ferry ticket from the North to the South Island is included.
