The Top & Tail starts at the very top of the country. From Auckland you head to Paihia in the Winterless North, return to Auckland, and only then start the long run south. It's a one-way pass that finishes in Christchurch after 19 days.
The North Island leg goes Hot Water Beach, Waitomo, Rotorua, Taupo (with a free day) and Wellington. After the Cook Strait crossing it's Abel Tasman, Westport, Lake Mahinapua (seasonal), Franz Josef (free day) and Queenstown, where there's another free day and a Milford Sound day trip with a boat cruise included. Then Lake Tekapo and Christchurch.
One Cook Strait ferry ticket from the North to the South Island is included. Choose it if you want the most iconic stops in one direction, including the far north. It's a hop-on hop-off pass from Kiwi Experience.
