Overview

Short on time but not willing to skip the islands? Catch the 8.45am catamaran from Port Denarau and you're on Kuata, the first island of the Yasawa chain, by 10.30am. The resort is barefoot and rustic, meals are included, and the afternoon is yours: hike to the summit for sunset, swim off the beach or claim a hammock.

Next morning you head out with experienced guides to a reef site 4 to 6 metres deep for the main event: snorkelling with black-tip and white-tip reef sharks, most of them under 2 metres. The guides stay with you the whole time and life jackets are available. Sightings aren't guaranteed, but they're very likely. The afternoon ferry has you back at Denarau by 6pm, with your Nadi hotel transfers included both ways.
