Overview

Fiji is one of the easiest places on earth to learn to dive: warm water, good visibility and reef close to shore. This package puts you on Mantaray Island in the Yasawas for four nights with the resort's own dive team, and you leave with your SSI Open Water certification, the licence that lets you dive anywhere in the world to 18 metres.

The course is theory, one shallow-water skills session straight off the beach (no pool), then four open-water dives at different reef sites. All your dive gear is included, so is the certification fee and your photo ID card, and so is a day at Malamala Beach Club before or after. Outside dive time you're on a manta-country island with a beach bar, hammocks and, from May to October, mantas in the channel. The catamaran leaves Port Denarau daily at 8.45am and your Nadi hotel transfers are included.

Common questions about this trip

  • Do I need any diving experience?

No. This is the beginner course: you finish it certified to dive to 18 metres with a buddy, anywhere in the world.
  • Can I do it if I have asthma or epilepsy?

Only with a doctor's medical clearance for diving. Tell us when you book so we can let the dive team know.
  • Do I need special insurance?

Yes. Your travel insurance must cover scuba diving.
  • Are meals included?

No. The resort runs a compulsory meal plan, paid on arrival, since there's nowhere else to eat on the island.
  • Is there a fuel surcharge?

Yes. The ferry operator sets it monthly, currently FJ$20 per person, paid locally before you board.
  • How do you confirm the booking?

Island beds are confirmed on request; our concierge confirms every component within 48 hours. If we can't confirm your dates, you don't pay for it.
  • What's the cancellation policy?

Cancellation terms for this trip are set by the operator and confirmed on your booking voucher. Refunds mirror the operator's policy, if they can refund, so can we. Wanderlust handles the refund for you, refunds mirror the operator's terms 1:1 (including if the operator cancels) and we chase it on your behalf. Message us for the exact day-by-day terms before you book.
