Overview

K'gari is the largest sand island on Earth, and it packs an unreasonable amount into one coastline: a beach that's legally a highway, a shipwreck rusting photogenically in the surf, freshwater lakes clearer than most pools. This tour threads all of it into a single day, and you choose where it starts: Rainbow Beach, or Noosa.

From Rainbow Beach you're picked up at 7:30am. From Noosa the day starts earlier, with pickups from 5:25am and a 1.5-hour drive north to join the Rainbow Beach crew. Either way it's a short hop to the ferry at Inskip Point (watch for dolphins and dugongs on the crossing), then a purpose-built 4WD with an experienced guide up the 75 Mile Beach highway to the SS Maheno wreck, a float down the crystal current of Eli Creek, and a swim at Boorangoora (Lake McKenzie). After that it's Central Station and the silent waters of Wanggoolba Creek. Keep watch for wangari (dingoes).

Rainbow Beach guests are back around 4:30pm; Noosa guests are dropped home around 6 to 7pm. Tides set the exact timing and order of stops on the day. Return ferry, park permits, morning tea, lunch and drinks are all included. One island, one day, fully sorted.
