Common questions about this trip

  • What packages are available?

The 3-day tour on its own, or with dorm nights in Rainbow Beach: 1 night before, 1 before and 1 after, or 3 nights (2 before and 1 after, or 1 before and 2 after). Pick your package above the calendar.
  • How much does it cost?

The price per person (AUD) depends on the package you pick: the tour only, or with 1, 2 or 3 Rainbow Beach nights. See the package prices above the calendar for the current figures.
  • Do I have to drive?

No. It's a tag-along convoy behind a guide vehicle: drivers must be 21 or over with a full open licence held for at least 12 months, and must bring the original card licence (an international licence too if yours isn't in English). Everyone else rides along as a passenger. The guide sets the order of stops around the tides.
  • Who's it for, and what should I bring?

Travellers aged 18 to 35 (under 18s need the operator's approval first). Bring a small day bag with towel, swimmers, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, a refillable water bottle and snacks, plus a carry-on bag for camp with warm layers, long pants and enclosed shoes. BYO drinks are fine, no glass. Phone signal on the island is minimal.
  • Can you cater for allergies?

Yes, nut and shellfish allergies are catered for (confirmed with the crew). Put it in the Dietary / accessibility box at checkout and it goes to the guides with your booking. Any other dietary need, ask us before you book and we'll check.
  • Where do I stay and how do I get there?

On the island you camp for two nights. Extra nights before or after the tour (on the package tiers) are at the tour's own hostel in Rainbow Beach, about a 30-second walk from the bus stop, right across the road from the entrance.
  • What's the cancellation policy?

Cancel more than 14 days before travel for a refund less a $100 cancellation fee. Between 14 and 7 days a 50% charge applies, and under 7 days or a no-show is a 100% charge. If the tour can't run due to adverse weather, the operator reschedules or alters the tour; weather that stops you reaching a tour that does depart is not refunded. Wanderlust handles the refund for you, refunds mirror the operator's terms 1:1 (including if the operator cancels) and we chase it on your behalf.

Got a question that's not here? Ask us or hit the chat, instant AI reply with a follow-up from the Wanderlust crew.

"Aside from the awesome activities; Lake McKenzie, Eli Creek, Champagne pools just to name a few, the camp was great. Everything you could need for the two nights, we were NEVER hungry, and roasting marshmallows around the fire in the evening then stargazing was the icing on the cake. Driving the 4x4’s on the beach was great experience."
