Overview

A small-group loop of Tasmania's wilder corners. You travel in a minibus (groups of 8 to 24) with a guide, and stay five nights in hostels or ensuite motel rooms. Meals are not included.

Day one leaves Hobart past Salamanca Markets to Mt Field National Park and the guided walk to Russell Falls, then Lake St Clair and on to Strahan. Day two covers Henty Dunes, a rainforest walk in the Tarkine to Montezuma Falls and Ocean Beach, with an optional Gordon River cruise at your own cost. Day three goes to Cradle Mountain National Park for walks among wombats and wallabies, ending in Launceston. Day four visits Cataract Gorge and the Bay of Fires, then Bicheno, where little penguins return to their rookeries at night. Day five is Freycinet National Park, with the climb to the summit of Mt Amos or the walk to Wineglass Bay, then back to Hobart. Day six visits Richmond, a wildlife sanctuary where you can see Tasmanian devils, and kunanyi (Mt Wellington) before the tour ends in Hobart.

The operator notes about 2 hours of walking on several days.

"Amazing experience! The weather was extremely hot but the tour was adapted so it didn’t affect us too much. Our guide … was very professional and knowledgeable on the whole tour. Showing us the indigenous culture in a very respectful way. Overall a really good trip!"
