Overview

A big day out on Tasmania's east coast, with a guide and a group of up to 20. You leave Hobart heading east through Orford and Swansea to Freycinet National Park, known for its pink granite mountains, white sand beaches and clear water.

The group walks to the Wineglass Bay lookout (a moderate uphill walk of about 45 minutes, 1.3km). From the lookout you can head back with your guide to see Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay and the Cape Tourville Lighthouse walk, or continue to the beach on a 2.5-hour return walk, where you can swim or have lunch on the sand. The afternoon stop is Devil's Corner Winery, with a view over Freycinet. You return to Hobart about 6pm.

The national park entrance fee is included. Food and drink aren't, but there's a stop to buy a bakery-style takeaway lunch, or you can bring your own. Bring sturdy shoes, warm layers and swimmers if you want a dip.
