Overview

Octopus is the Yasawas with a modern, slightly funky twist. The centre of the resort is a big open-air bure with a bar and lounge looking over the beach and pool, and dinner is served in a sand-floor restaurant at long communal tables, which is how you end up with a table of new mates. After dinner there's often fire dancing and Fijian music.

Snorkels, paddleboards and kayaks are free, and the resort runs a programme of paid extras: diving, guided night snorkels, village visits, yoga, cooking lessons and meke dancing. There's a pool, a spa, Wi-Fi and phone coverage.

The 12-bed (bunks) and 7-bed (single beds) dorms are air-conditioned with lockers and reading lamps. Private options climb from shared-bathroom bungalows and garden bures to the Poppies luxury lodge, beachfront bures and two-bedroom villas. The catamaran arrives around 10.55am and leaves at about 3.45pm next day, so you get most of two days. Return ferry and Nadi hotel coach are included; meals are paid at the resort.

2 Day 2 · Octopus Resort to Port Denarau

Common questions about this trip

  • Is it a party resort?

It's social rather than wild. The communal dinners, the open-air bar and the after-dinner fire dancing make it easy to meet people, and there's a pool and spa for the quieter hours.
  • How do meals work?

Meals are paid directly at the resort, since it's the only place to eat on the island. Tell us about dietary needs when you book.
  • Dorm or private?

There are two air-con dorms, 12 beds with bunks or 7 single beds, each with a locker and reading lamp. The cheapest private room is a bungalow with a shared bathroom; garden and beachfront bures have their own.
  • Is there a fuel surcharge?

Yes. The ferry operator sets it monthly, currently FJ$20 per person, and it's paid locally before you board rather than included in this price. Budget for it in Fijian dollars.
  • How is the booking confirmed?

Island beds are confirmed on request with the resort, and we come back to you within 48 hours. If your date can't be confirmed, you don't pay for it.
  • What's the cancellation policy?

For Welcome and Departure Packs, there is no fee 31 or more days out, 50% from 15 to 30 days, and full charge at 14 days or less. For packages and island stays, the deposit is non-refundable 81 or more days out, the higher of 10% or the deposit applies from 46 to 80 days, and 100% applies at 45 days or less. Date changes up to 80 days out have no amendment fee. The operator can cancel vessel departures or vary itineraries for adverse conditions. Wanderlust handles the refund for you, refunds mirror the operator's terms 1:1 (including if the operator cancels) and we chase it on your behalf.
