Australia Tours for German Backpackers (2026): A German Site, Looked After in Australia

Australia tours for German backpackers in 2026: a German-language site, euro prices, German emails, and East Coast trips with live prices.

Short answer: Wanderlust Travel & Adventure is an Australian backpacker travel company with a full German edition at wanderlustreisen.de. Planning is free, by email or WhatsApp, and we’re based in Byron Bay and on WhatsApp for the whole trip. The whole site, checkout and booking emails are in German, prices are shown in euros, and German law pages (Impressum, Datenschutz, an EU representative) are in place. The trips themselves run in English with international groups, as every East Coast backpacker tour does. Our own semi-guided Travel Mates trips start at $1,499 for 7 days, and the 21-day Sydney to Cairns trip is $3,099, with any start day.

Our prices are per person in AUD and update from our live listings; the German site shows them in euros at the day’s ECB rate. Other companies’ prices are from their own websites on 27 October 2026. We describe other companies by what they sell instead of naming them.

Semi-guided (our own Travel Mates line): every bed, coach seat and big adventure is booked before you land, and you’re with a guided group on K’gari and the Whitsundays. Between those days you travel on your own schedule through social hostels, which suits Work and Travel plans where you may stop to work. Guided group: one leader and one group from start to finish on a set departure date.

How we compare with a German-based group tour

The best-known German company selling East Coast group trips offers a 21-day Sydney to Cairns trip at €2,689 (about A$4,290 at the 23 October ECB rate), for 18 to 35s, with a tour guide the whole way, airport pickup, 20 nights, some meals and more than 20 activities. Its tour language is English, in a mixed international group of about 14 to 20.

Which suits you: if you want a guide every day and a fixed group from Sydney, the guided trip does that. If you want your own start date, room to stop and work, and a lower price for the same route, the semi-guided trip does that. Either way, the tours on the water and on K’gari are in English.

Questions: Australia tours for German backpackers

Is there an Australian tour company for German backpackers?

Yes. Wanderlust Travel & Adventure is based in Byron Bay and runs a German edition at wanderlustreisen.de, with euro prices and German booking emails. You book the same tours and prices as on the English site.

Are East Coast tours in Australia run in German?

Almost never. K’gari tours, Whitsundays sailing trips, reef boats and backpacker group tours are run in English with international groups, including by German-based companies. A few reef and cruise boats offer German audio commentary. What you can get in German is the planning, booking and support, which is what we offer.

Will I meet other Germans on a tour?

Very likely. Germany sends tens of thousands of Working Holiday makers to Australia each year, and most travel the East Coast between Sydney and Cairns, so German travellers are on almost every backpacker trip.

Can I pay in euros?

Prices on the German site are shown in euros at the daily ECB rate. The card charge is in Australian dollars, and the checkout shows both amounts, so you know what to expect on your statement.

Can you plan my whole Work and Travel trip?

Yes, for free. Tell us your arrival date, how long you have and whether you want to work along the way. We plan the route around real departure days for K’gari, the boats and the reef, and we’re on WhatsApp once you’re in Australia. Start at Australien-Reise planen lassen or in English at Plan my trip.

Is Wanderlust a legitimate company?

Wanderlust Travel & Adventure Pty Ltd is a registered Australian company. How bookings and payments work is set out on Is Wanderlust legit?, and the German Impressum lists our German business address.
