Overview

This half-day trip leaves from Cape Tribulation beach on a rigid inflatable boat that carries a maximum of 25 passengers. It is a fast 25-minute ride out to Mackay and Undine reefs, off the Daintree coast, where the trip visits two snorkel sites.

You have about two hours exploring the reef, with sea turtles often seen, and personalised snorkel instruction and reef interpretation from the crew. Courtesy pickups from Cape Tribulation accommodation are included, along with all snorkelling equipment.

Sunsuits, wetsuits and prescription masks can be hired. Water, soft drinks and snacks are available to buy on board. The operator recommends the morning tour over the green season, and the boat is out of service for annual maintenance from 12 February to 1 March.

"This was a great snorkel experience. It was a quick boat ride out to the reef. … We snorkeled in two sites. The coral and fish were beautiful. Also, one our drive to Cape Tribulation, we saw a cassowary on the road."

"The reef itself is awesome, being on a little private sandbar beach 20km offshore! No turtles seen, but plenty of beautiful reef fish."

"Excellent, small group experience. Terrific staff: friendly, funny and fun, but very safety oriented - great equipment (including full length wetsuits) instruction and guiding. Sea-life was fantastic. So many creatures, so many colours - bucket-list stuff for sure. I'll never forget it"
