Overview

Not a morning person? The half-day pass is the same island beach club with a later start. The catamaran leaves Port Denarau at midday and you're on Malamala by 12.30pm, in time for lunch by the infinity pool. It's about 30 minutes from Denarau, and the island is small enough to walk around in 20 minutes.

You choose your boat home: the 4.15pm, back at Denarau at 4.45pm, or the 5.30pm, back at 6pm, which gets you the golden hour on the island.

Snorkel gear, kayaks, paddleboards, towels and Wi-Fi in the main club are free. Food and drinks aren't included and outside food isn't allowed, so budget for lunch and cocktails, paid by card. Poolside day beds and beachside cabanas can be hired on the day. There's an adults-only area for over-16s; children pay the adult rate.

Common questions about this trip

  • Full day or half day?

The half day gives you around four to five hours on the island from 12.30pm. Choose the full day if you want the morning too; the boat home is the same.
  • Is food included?

No. Food and drinks are ordered at the club and paid by card. Outside food and drink isn't allowed.
  • Can kids come?

Yes, children pay the adult rate and there's a separate adults-only area for over-16s.
  • Is there a fuel surcharge?

Yes. The ferry operator charges a fuel surcharge on this day trip, currently FJ$10 per adult and FJ$10 per child, paid at the check-in counter at Port Denarau in Fijian dollars.
  • How does the hotel pickup work?

The free coach runs from most Nadi, Denarau, Vuda and Wailoaloa hotels, and seats must be booked at least 24 hours ahead (we do it with your booking). Be at the pickup point 15 minutes early: drivers can't wait. Miss it and you'll need your own way to Port Denarau.

"We took our 8-year-old on the half-day Ride & Slide tour and had a fantastic day! The boat was a good size, making the experience feel personal, and the crew were amazing – friendly, kind, full of laughs and great tunes! We snorkelled at the reef near Malamala, enjoyed a lovely lunch on board, then headed to South Sea Cay for more snorkelling."
