One surf lesson teaches you to stand up. Five in a row teach you to actually surf, and that's the whole idea of this tour. Each day builds on the last while it's still fresh in your arms, which is how you get from white-wash wobbles to unbroken waves in a single week.
You surf three to four hours a day for five consecutive days, with the school's instructors, Surfing Australia Level 1 and 2 accredited, first-aid trained, professional lifeguard backgrounds, moving the group between Byron Bay's beaches to match the conditions to your level. Boards, wetsuits, rash vests and transport for each surf safari are all included.
It's open to ages 13 and up, so it works whether you're mid gap year or dragging a younger sibling along. By Friday, "I surfed in Byron" is just a fact about you.
Five lessons on five days

Boards, wetsuits and transport included
Different Byron beaches to match conditions
Ages 13 and up
Your first session is all about the fundamentals. Your qualified local instructor walks you through the pop-up, paddling basics and surf safety, and by the end of a 3 to 4 hour lesson you are standing up and riding waves all the way to the beach. The school picks the best beginner beach each day from more than 10 locations around Byron Bay to match the conditions, and you get all your gear: board, wetsuit and rash vest, with transport included.
Build on day one with a stronger stance, your first turns and better control of the wave. Another 3 to 4 hours in the water with small groups and local instructors, with the transport to and from the beach taken care of.
Time to learn how to pick the right wave. Today you work on choosing green, unbroken waves and keep practising your turns, with your instructor watching and coaching as you go.
Refine your turns, build consistency and start linking manoeuvres together so your surfing begins to flow. Same 3 to 4 hour session, board and wetsuit supplied.
Your final lesson focuses on surfing independently and building confidence on unbroken waves, conditions permitting. By now you have the technique, the wave knowledge and the surf safety to keep chasing waves in Byron Bay long after the course.

Review excerpts below are from Tripadvisor.
"We booked 3 days of surf lessons and had so much fun. Everyone of the crew had been so nice and even chances like driving to the spots with our own car had been easy due to the people on the phone / from the shop. First day for learning the basics – second day for some more learnings and practice – and last day to enjoy the progress."
