Overview

Apollo is an ex-racing maxi yacht, which means she was built to go fast and now spends her days doing laps of the Whitsundays with you on deck. The two-night format exists because there's too much to fit into two days, and the itinerary backs that up: northern Hook Island, Whitsunday Island and the caves at Nara Inlet in one trip. Minimum age 16.

Day one heads out of Airlie Beach to Stonehaven Bay on Hook Island for a snorkel over coral and tropical fish, then Langford Reef for another, before anchoring for the night at Stonehaven or nearby. Day two is the Whitsunday Island set piece: the bushwalk to the northern lookout over Hill Inlet, time on the Inlet's sand, then the southern end of Whitehaven Beach with an optional second lookout walk, weather permitting. The crew throw in a few of their own quieter spots along the way.

Day three is another snorkel site, possibly the Ngaro Caves at Nara Inlet and their story of the islands' traditional custodians, then the sail home. Bedding, air conditioning, snorkelling gear and all meals except breakfast on day one are included, with filtered water, tea, coffee and Milo on tap. BYO alcohol; bring a towel.

"They took us to bays which were amazing full of sea life and even had sharks by our boat at night. … took us to Whitehaven beach early, which was the best decision. By 10am it was absolutely packed and would’ve ruined the experience."
