Australia Zoo is the Sunshine Coast's big day out, and it's a big zoo: over 1,200 animals across roughly 44 hectares of public display, from the Crocoseum to the African Savannah, the South-East Asia precinct and Bindi's Island. The thing you actually want from a tour is time inside and no driving, and that's what this one is: pick-up and drop-off in Noosa, day admission, and at least six hours to do the place properly.

Pick-up is from your Noosa accommodation in the morning in a small air-conditioned vehicle, then it's down Steve Irwin Way to the zoo at Beerwah. Inside, you're on your own schedule. The zoo opens at 9am and the daily shows, talks and keeper presentations run through the day, so the usual play is to pick the shows you want, then walk the zones between them. The package also includes a sneak-peek entry ticket to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital next door, which treats sick and injured native animals and is worth the detour. Your driver meets you at the agreed time for the run back to Noosa.

Nine hours door to door, running seven days a week. Admission and return transfers are included; food, drinks and the paid animal encounters inside the zoo are not. It suits anyone who wants to see koalas, kangaroos, crocs and tigers in one go without hiring a car.
