Summer Jo just came out of a one-million-dollar makeover, and it shows, she's the freshest boat working the Whitsundays' overnight routes, carrying 18 to 32 travellers through some of the most photographed water in Australia.
Two days and two nights is the sweet spot for this region: enough time for the icons without rushing, with real evenings on the water when the day boats have all gone home and the islands go quiet. Snorkelling equipment is included for everyone, and diving gear is on hand if you opt into a dive. All meals are covered (gluten-free, vegan or dairy-free needs are handled separately, flag them when you book), plus linen, a bath towel, and a skipper and crew who know these waters cold.
Marine Park fees are in the price too. Pack light, bring a dry sense of humour, and let the boat do the organising.
Fresh $1 million refit
Two nights among the islands
All meals and linen included
Snorkel gear for everyone
Dive gear if you dive
Skipper and crew included
Meet the crew at the marina, get your briefing and safety demo, then cast off in the late afternoon on the Summer Jo. You sail a short way into the islands and drop anchor for the night, with dinner cooked by the onboard chef.
A full day on the water. Snorkel the fringing reefs of the Great Barrier Reef, or head down with scuba gear if you are certified (diving is optional; introductory dives and night dives are also available as extras). At an island stop, weather permitting, join a bushwalk, try stand-up paddleboarding or get stuck into beach games. Then it is another night at anchor.
An early start for a guided walk to Hill Inlet Lookout and time on Whitehaven Beach, one of the world's most beautiful beaches. Breakfast onboard, then sail back to Airlie Beach, arriving around 2:00 pm.
