Aperçu

Rottnest's historic settlement is flat, car-free and just right for a Segway. You take the ferry from B Shed in Fremantle, then head to Kingstown Barracks, where guides fit you out on a Segway and run you through a practice zone before setting off.

The tour glides along Thomson Bay to the Rottnest pub with stories of the settlement's past, then follows beachside paths to pristine bays and The Basin, one of the island's best swimming spots, with Bathurst Lighthouse standing guard over the swimmers. Keep watch for quokkas: there's plenty of time for selfies.

"We Cruised from Perth to Rottnest. Beautiful weather. We get a lot of information from the skipper that explained many things about the swan river, from the geography to landmarks and history. The ferry was spacious and comfortable, seating on top and bottom deck available. Very smooth trip"
