Short answer: a K’gari (Fraser Island) tour costs from $279 for a day trip, from $499 for a 2-day 4WD tag-along with beach camping, from $579 for the 3-day version, and from $649 if you want a real bed. Self-drive 4WD hire is quoted on enquiry, with fuel, food and permits on top.
Prices are per person in AUD (4WD hire is priced per listing; the tour page shows how many people it covers), from our current listings (October 2026), and can change. Every tour in one list, sorted by today’s price, with what costs extra: K’gari tours by price.

Day trips
The Remote K’gari (Fraser Island) & Whale Experience is a 9-hour boat day from Hervey Bay on the island’s western coast: kayaking, snorkelling, buffet lunch, and humpbacks in Platypus Bay with in-water swims when conditions allow. No Lake McKenzie, no Maheno.
The K’gari Day Tour (Rainbow to Rainbow) from $279 is the classic: 8 hours in a purpose-built 4WD from Rainbow Beach with a guide driving, covering 75 Mile Beach, Lake McKenzie, Eli Creek, the Maheno and the rainforest. Ferry, lunch, drinks and permits included; the excludes list is empty.
What the money gets you: the icons, lunch, nothing to carry.
Two or three days, you drive, you camp
- Dingo’s K’gari 2-Day 4WD Tag-Along from Rainbow Beach from $499: one night at an enclosed beach camp, twin-share tent with mat, sleeping bag and pillow, all meals, ferries, fuel, camping and vehicle permits, luggage storage in Rainbow Beach.
- Dingo’s K’gari 3-Day 4WD Tag-Along from Rainbow Beach from $579: the same deal over two nights, adding Lake Wabby. A small step up for a whole extra day.
- K’gari 3-Day Tag-Along Safari from Noosa or Rainbow Beach from $599: 18 to 35s, max 4 vehicles, private dingo-fenced beach camp with a campfire, driver training, and all main meals except day 1 breakfast and day 3 dinner.
- K’gari (Fraser Island) 3-Day Adventure from Rainbow Beach from $599: 18 to 35, two nights at a permanent camp with hot showers, drive or ride as a passenger, Rainbow Beach hostel nights bundled on the package tiers.
The one-day Brisbane option, the Fraser Island 4WD Exclusive Tour from $519, also sits here: a long day with ferry, park fees and picnic lunch included, but no night on the island.
What the money gets you: a 4WD you drive yourself in a guided convoy, a beach camp, meals, and every permit and ferry sorted.
The same days with a proper bed
- K’gari PINK 4WD Tag-Along, 2 Days from Hervey Bay from $649: beach house in quad-share rooms with hot showers, all meals plus snacks, ferry, permits, free pickups from selected Hervey Bay hostels.
- Fraser Island 2-Night 4WD Adventure (Camping) from $729: three days from Brisbane with an eco guide driving, camping, most meals (lunch on days 2 and 3 excluded).
- K’gari Getaway Tour (Private Triple) from $749: two resort nights in a private triple room, guided 4WD coach touring across both coasts, breakfasts and lunches, dinner at your own cost.
- K’gari 3-Day 4WD Escape Ex Hervey Bay from $719: two nights in a private beach house at Eurong (shared rooms, real bathrooms), 3 lunches, 2 dinners, 2 breakfasts plus snacks, the chance to drive, no single supplement.
What the money gets you: the tag-along days minus the tent, or a guide at the wheel.
Your own 4WD: price on request
K’gari 4WD Hire, 3 Days, K’gari 4WD Hire, 4 Days and K’gari 4WD Hire, 5 Days are quoted on enquiry and hand you a lifted automatic Landcruiser from Noosaville with recovery gear, barge transfer and an audio guide. The vehicle access permit, fuel, food and anywhere to sleep are extra, and the listing is built around up to five people sharing one vehicle, so the per-head maths changes completely with a full car.
What the money gets you: freedom and the quiet corners. Only cheap if the car is full.
Every K’gari tour we sell
What’s included versus what’s extra
Ferries, permits and fuel. Included on every guided tour and tag-along we list: return ferry, national park and camping permits, vehicle permits and 4WD fuel. On 4WD hire the barge is included but the vehicle access permit and fuel are not.
Vehicle damage excess. If you drive on a tag-along you carry a liability excess. The Rainbow Beach 2-day lists it as no cover (100% liability) unless you pay $25 to reduce the excess to $1,500 or $50 to reduce it to $500. The 3-day Rainbow Beach tour lists optional liability reduction, and the Hervey Bay PINK tour lists an optional $50 fee to reduce driver liability. Budget the $50; soft sand is not kind to the uninsured.
Meals. Day tours include lunch. The Rainbow Beach tag-alongs include all meals. The Noosa camping safari skips day 1 breakfast and day 3 dinner. The Brisbane 3-day skips lunch on days 2 and 3. The resort tour leaves dinner to you both nights. A missed dinner on the island is not something you can fix at a servo.
Sleeping gear. Supplied on the Rainbow Beach tag-alongs (tent, mat, sleeping bag, pillow). On the Noosa camping safari, sleeping bag hire is a $20 refundable deposit.
Alcohol. Not included anywhere. The Noosa tours allow cans only, bought before you leave.
Luggage and parking. Luggage storage in Rainbow Beach is included on the Rainbow Beach tag-alongs. In Hervey Bay the PINK tour charges $20 per bag for storage and $20 per day for secure parking (free street parking is the alternative); the 3-day escape charges a small fee by bag size.
Pre and post nights. The Rainbow Beach 3-Day Adventure bundles hostel nights on its package tiers. Everywhere else, you book your own bed in town.
Travel insurance. Excluded everywhere, and listed as a requirement on the Noosa tours.
Budget tips
Take the third day. From Rainbow Beach the 3-day tag-along is $579 against $499 for the 2-day: a small step up for an extra day and night on the island, meals included.
Count the meals, not just the price. Two tours at a similar price can differ by a couple of meals, and that gap is bigger than it looks once you have bought dinner in town.
Getting to Rainbow Beach or Hervey Bay. Both are on the East Coast bus routes. As a rough estimate, a one-way coach leg from Brisbane or Noosa to Rainbow Beach runs roughly $40–80, and a hostel bed in either town is roughly $35–60 a night. Ballpark figures for things outside the tour, not our prices. If you hold a Greyhound pass the leg is already paid; our campervan vs bus pass guide has the full comparison.
Fill the car on 4WD hire. At one or two people, hire is the most expensive way onto the island. At five, splitting the vehicle can undercut a guided tour, but only if your crew already exists and someone is confident on sand.
Pay the excess reduction. $50 to cap your liability at $500 is the best-value line item on the island.
Build it into the coast plan. Our 21-day East Coast itinerary with real costs slots K’gari into the full run. Pairing it with a sail? The K’gari + Whitsundays Combo from $1,499 bundles both with the transfer and nights between pre-booked.
