Whitsundays sailing trips are the East Coast's most repeated 'best thing I did' answer, and the overnight boats are why: two or three days threading 74 islands, Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet, snorkelling fringing reef off the back of the boat, and nights anchored in a cove with a crew that were strangers at breakfast.
